So, I really don't have much of an opinion on New Year's Resolutions. Some people are all for it. Others are all for making them and breaking them. Some, don't even bother.
They resolve to lose 80 pounds, go to the gym everyday and eat nothing but celery for the rest of their lives. Sure....
Others that they will save every extra dime, never look at Target clearance again and will have an extra $10,000 saved at the end of the year. Right....
I see nothing wrong with making a resolution, as long as it's realistic and one that you can truly try to obtain and stick with. I am normally not one for making resolutions. I am usually the smart ass who resolves NOT to make a resolution. Ha ha, clever me!
But, this year, I am going to make two resolutions. Both will be related to myself post baby.
Resolution #1: To be a good mother. As in, to be the best mother I can possibly be. To live up to my own standards, not others opinions or expectations as to what kind of mother I should be. If I am doing all I can to be a good mommy, then that is what counts. Not what Susie Opinionated next door or Sally Know-It-All at Gymboree thinks is a good mother. I will love, nurture, entertain, feed, and care for my baby to the best of my ability. I will not slack, make excuses or compare myself to other moms. My mom style will be my own and it will be what works best for me, whether others like it or not! We're all different, right?
Resolution #2: Now, this one falls into the weight loss realm a little bit. Which, to be honest, is a scary place to be when making resolutions. How many of us vow to lose weight, usually a large amount of weight, and fail miserably? I have two weight loss goals.
1: to get back to my pre-baby weight 3 months after having the little one. So, as of right now, that gives me 3 months to lose approximately 11 pounds (give or take depending on how much more I gain/lose before baby's arrival). I definitely think that is an achievable goal.
After achieving that, 2: my next goal will be to lose an additional 40 pounds by the end of the year. But, I want to do it by exercising with baby. I am very motivated to meet other new mothers in the area, so what better way than by joining Mommy and Me fitness classes? Another goal I find to be attainable. That will give me 7 months to lose 40 pounds. Which is enough time to do it the right way, which is the healthy way.
