Top 3 Thursday

Elizabeth at Confessions From a Working Mom and The (Un)Experienced Mom have started a new Blog Carnival. This is my first time joining in. If you'd like to play along visit either one of their blogs to get started!
Today's topic is:

What are you Top 3 Favorite Things About Spring?

I should start off by saying that I have lived in two VERY different areas of the country, so Spring is completely different in each place. In Ohio Spring doesn't usually start weatherwise until May. And it usually doesn't last for very long. It was very normal for me as a child to wake up on the "first day of Spring" to a snowstorm. With that being said, Spring in Texas couldn't be more different. As I type this it is all ready 65 degrees outside. When Spring arrives in a short two weeks time, I can guarantee the weather will be in the mid-70s all ready. Not quite your typical Spring weather.
So, my favorite things about spring?

3) Being able to wear flip flops (which I am all ready wearing!) all of the time. I hate that my feet have to be confined to shoes in the cold months. (Although, I do love to wear heels!) I love to have a reason to get pedicures, and what's a better one than the fact that the world will have to look at my feet? They should look pretty, right?

2) Being able to spend time outside. The upside to living in snowbound Ohio is that Spring and Summer are great times to be outside! The downside to living in SE Texas is that Summer is a living nightmare. It's what hell would feel like. Literally. It is so hot and humid, it is actually hard to breathe while you are outside. Nobody here steps foot out of doors in the Summer months, especially July and August, unless it is absolutely necessary. But, Spring in Texas is fantastic! The weather is in the 70s and 80s and the unbearable humidity hasn't set in just yet. It's nice to be able to spend a few months outside before the awful heat comes to town.

1) Everything turns back to a beautiful green and flowers are in bloom. I love looking outside my window and seeing buds forming on the trees and tulips poking up through the soil. Things to start to get depressing after awhile when all you see outside is brown grass and bare branches. The world is just a more beautiful place once Spring has made its entrance.

  1. I LOVE that you mentioned pedicures in relation to springtime, because I just thought that while reading another blogger's post! I definitely think of the two together; glad I'm not the only one!

  4. Oh how I miss flip flops. I would wear these all year round if it was appropriate....but it's too cold until like April around here, too. You're lucky with the TX weather!

    Thanks for playing our game!
