Would you wear a barrel?

I've gotta tell ya, I'm pretty bummed. I bought a gorgeous dress at Ann Taylor last May. Black and white with a sweet little ruffle on the bottom. I loved it! And wouldn't ya know, I've never gotten to wear it? Not too long after the dress was bought I discovered I was pregnant. My beautiful dress, still in its pretty Ann Taylor bag, with the tags still on, was put on the rack in the back of our closet.

I pulled it out yesterday. You see, Aidan will be getting baptized this July when we go back to Ohio. Jason's mom reminded me that I had it, so I thought I had better try it on to see if it still fit. Well, I could zip that baby up and it fit everywhere... but my chest! It was SOOO tight! One false move and that dress would rip right down the front!

I have another dress that I also bought last year which I have never worn. Red with flowers on it, very fitting and slimming. I then proceeded to try that dress on. Yep, couldn't even zip it up once we got to the chest area....

I'm starting to get a little irritated people! My chest is huge and nothing fits! I hate the thought of having to go out and buy a dress just for this occasion.

*le sigh*

I scoped out the Banana Republic Outlet yesterday (I have a giftcard) and I had the same problem. All the dresses I tried on, in my regular size, fit me everywhere but up top. When I go up a size I look like I'm wearing a tent! What's a girl to do?

Maybe I'll just wear a barrel...

Thoughts?

  1. Stretch materials...I bought a couple of dresses that were more forgiving and didn't have zippers up the back when Cate was about 6 weeks old. They were perfect when I returned to work and when I quit breastfeeding, they still looked cute.

  2. Oh Lady if you wear a barrel then I will too. We can wear matching barrels at the Baptism. :0)

Don't get discouraged. If you come to Ohio and still don't have a dress we can go shopping the Friday you're in Toledo and find something perfect. Don't worry!!
