Grandma and Grandpa

I love Jason's grandparents. They treat me like I'm their flesh and blood granddaughter. It's as if I've known them my entire life. They truly are wonderful people. I really don't think that I've ever met more inviting, caring, kindhearted souls in my life.

We were lucky enough to spend a few days with them while we were back home. We even packed up all of Aidan's things and trucked on down to Canton so that we could stay the night with Grandma and Grandpa. We had a blast!

They are not your ordinary 80 year-old couple. His Grandma could pass for 65. Seriously. She doesn't even have gray hair. It's black! And she doesn't dye it. Honest! Jason's mom and I envy her vivacity, energy and health. We both hope that we will be able to enjoy life as she knows it when we are in our 80s. She is in a euchre group that meets once a week, is the President of her bowling league and also Chaplain of her local Moose Chapter. Her laugh is contagious, as well as her smile and her sense of humor. She is a fierce card player and my permanent euchre partner whenever we get together! This woman is a great cook and single-handedly makes Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner every year for atleast 10 people! Grandma is definitely not afraid to tell you what is on her mind. In her yearbook the caption next to her school picture stated, "Always speaks before she thinks!"
I love this woman. :)

And secretly, I'm in love with his Grandpa. I just might marry him if Jason doesn't ask me! He calls me his girlfriend. I blush. He's falls into the "strong, silent type" category. But don't be fooled.. once you get him talking about something, sometimes he can't stop! Grandpa is quite the ladies man and his smile and charm are irresistible to women of all ages! I think it makes Grandma jealous ever once and awhile, but she must've known that she landed herself quite the catch when they were married 62 years ago! Grandpa and Grandma went to the same school.. but didn't get together until after they graduated. This is probably because Grandpa didn't talk. His yearbook caption said, "Why talk if you don't have to?"

Aidan had a great time getting to know his great-grandparents. I think he is very fortunate to be able to spend time with them. I only had one great-grandparent and I saw her a handful of times until she died when I was younger. I really hope that Aidan will be able to develop a relationship and treasure the memories he makes with these two remarkable souls.

P.S. This has been sitting in my drafts for a few days. We just found out yesterday that Grandpa is in the hospital. Please send up a little prayer for him that he will be all right. Thanks so much for your thoughts! :)
