After a long week last week, in which I was a trade show widow (Jason was working a large, local trade show all week and was gone 14+ hours each day), followed by a busy weekend visit from my brother and sister-in-law, I was happy for Mother's Day to roll around.
No grand plans.
No going out to eat.
Just time at home with my boys.
We all slept in, then ate pancakes for breakfast.
Aidan was happy to finally have time at home to play with his toys. We played, read books and laughed.
It was refreshing.
He and Jason took naps at the same time. I lounged on the couch, watched a movie and enjoyed some alone time.
They woke up, and then it was my turn for a nap. Followed by some time playing in the backyard.
Later on we made a family trip to the bookstore where Jason treated me to two new reads. I'm excited to start them! Afterward, we stopped at the store and I picked up the fixins for a simple dinner: herbed spinach and cheese ravioli with garlic bread and caesar salad. Delicious!
After Aidan had gone to bed Jason and I spent time together. Which we hadn't done in more than a week.It was great to just be with each other and talk. I'm still amazed at how well we click and at how much I love him. My love for him continues to grow everyday. I feel so lucky.
This Mother's Day made me happy for so many reasons.
Blessed to be the mother of such a beautiful, intelligent, active little boy.
Lucky to be loved by such an amazing man.
Grateful that soon we will open up our hearts, home and life to another sweet baby.
And thankful for my own strong, beautiful Mother back in Ohio, who raised me to become the woman I am today. And who always made me believe that I deserve this wonderful life that has been bestowed upon me.
I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!
