House Hunt Sunday

I know it's been awhile since I've posted a house... it's just that we haven't had time to actually look at any houses recently! Last Sunday though, Aidan and I were able to slip away for a few hours while Jason painted the kitchen. (Yay for new colors!)

If you are new to my House Hunt Sunday feature, you can click here or go to the House Hunt Sunday tab at the top of my blog to see the previous houses I have posted about, as well as our "must list" for our next place.

This week's house:

A little different that the previous two I've viewed so far... A plantation home in Cypress, TX (a town NW of Houston) a bit farther north than the rest, but in a lovely newer, Master Planned Community.

And now for the tour...

Isn't this front porch gorgeous? I can see evenings spent on a hanging swing with a good book and iced tea in hand.

Opening the front door, you are greeting by light walls in the foyer. To the left is the dining room.

Here is the dining room that connects to the kitchen. I love the big windows... not loving the paint choices, though!

The kitchen is a good size with newer appliances. The eating area is a little small, although I do like the window seat provided. Not sure I'd put a table in front of it. I think we're probably just eat in the dining room.

The kitchen opens up into a family room filled with windows! The fireplace is double-sided. Through those glass doors is a sunroom.

I absolutely love this sunroom. The tile, the yellow paint, the cozy fireplace...I can see our family spending a lot of time in this great space!

The master bedroom is to the right of the sunroom. Unfortunately it has tiled floors. After living in a house that has NO carpet, we have discovered that we'd really like to have carpet in the bedrooms.

The master bath is a good size with two sinks and a garden tub with separate shower.

The stairs to the second floor are just outside the master bedroom. You walk up into this good sized game room.
There are also a bedroom and full bath upstairs. It'd make a great kids area/guest quarters! There are two additional bedrooms and another full bath in a separate wing on the first floor.

Outside of the kitchen/family room area is this great covered patio. I love the stone they used! That fenced in area is a dog run.

Here is the fantastic pool and hot tub. I love the separate dining area behind the pool. It looks like a wonderful way to unwind with a cocktail after a busy day.

So what did you think? Overall I did like this house. It's smaller than we'd like, and also is missing a few things on our must list, primarily a home office. But, I love how bright it is inside, as well  as the fabulous sunroom! Jason and I are still up in the air about having a pool. I think a major drawback would be the fact that there is literally no yard for our dogs or children to play in. On the other hand, you can use a pool here in Houston for about 8 months out of the year!

I'll be taking a few weeks off, since we'll be out of town for the next few weekends. Stay tuned for my next House Hunt Sunday post (most likely in July).

  1. Ha! My first thought was how the sunroom would make a fabulous office! Then again, I'm single and without kids. If I had a family I'd probably want to use it as an actual sunroom :)

It's a gorgeous house, though! Well, except for the pain choices!
