House Hunt Sunday

Somehow I managed to squeeze in time over the weekend to view an open house.  And I'm so glad that I did! It gave Jason some time to do some more painting (we were out of town for two weeks, it had to wait!) and gave me the opportunity to check out a fantastic house!

If you are new to my House Hunt Sunday feature, you can click here or go to the House Hunt Sunday tab at the top of my blog to see the previous houses I have posted about, as well as our "must list" for our next place.

This week's house:

(All photos and information provided by Houston Association of Realtors)

An all-brick ranch, situated on a golf course in a gated community. Priced at the high range of our current budget, this house is in a suburb NW of Houston, known as Cypress. They have a fabulous school district and the home is close to my favorite grocery store! (Nerdy, but I drive almost half an hour one way to get there right now.)

The details~

Inside the home...

Walking through the front door into the large foyer, you immediately notice the high ceilings and the natural light that fills the home. I love the tile floors (which are also in the kitchen and breakfast area)! The french doors lead to a private study/4th bedroom.

The study has beautiful wood floors and could also be used as a 4th bedroom. It is attached to a full-sized Jack & Jill bathroom.

Walking straight ahead from the foyer you enter the living room. It has a beautiful double-sided fireplace and soaring ceilings. The columns that frame the open entry into the dining room give the space an elegant touch. The doorway behind the couch leads to a bedroom that shares the the Jack & Jill bath with the study.

The dining room has great architectural detail and feels very large. The doorway  to the left leads to the kitchen. You'll pass the laundry room and a huge pantry on the way.

Here is the family room. You can see that it shares the fireplace with the living room. The huge windows bring in lots of light and offer views of the golf course. The room is large and can hold multiple pieces of furniture. You can see two doorways  in the picture above. One leads to the master suite and the other to the guest quarters.

This kitchen is huge! love the stainless steel/black appliances and the island. I've always wanted an island in my kitchen. The tile and backsplash are beautiful and the natural light makes it feel like such a large space.

The breakfast room is enveloped with windows. It can hold a large table and would make a great place for family meals. I think a windowseat would go nicely in here, don't you?

Now for the master bedroom... heaven! Huge windows overlooking the golf course, the BIGGEST closet I have ever seen (It needs shoes, lots of shoes!) and a gorgeous bathroom. What's there not to love?

Here is one of the secondary bedrooms. It attaches to this cute Jack & Jill bath. All of the bedrooms are nicely sized and have walk-in closets.

I think we would really enjoy this back patio. It has two ceiling fans and would be a great place to unwind after a busy day. A cool drink, a good book and watching the sun set over the golf course  is my idea of a good evening.

The yard is a decent size. Although, I am worried that my dogs would either jump the short fence, or go crazy barking at golfers all day long!

One last parting shot of this beautiful home. It's much larger than it looks, don't you think?
What are you thoughts? Personally,  I really like this house. I love the idea of having a ranch with this much space. The high ceilings, natural light and openness make this house feel very large. I feel that the only thing it is lacking is a true 4th bedroom.Overall,  I think that we'd make a bid on this home if we were ready to buy right now!

Stay tuned for next week's house. I think I may look at something a little different.... * wink*

  1. Wow, I LOVE this feature!!! I might have to follow your lead and start going to open houses, just to appease my house hunting whims! We are years away from moving (probably won't move until our "choice" school district finally decides -- for sure -- whether or not to build a 2nd high school), but I still love real estate.

I really liked that house -- great floors, lots of light, high ceilings. But I felt like some of the rooms were a little *too* big; I'd rather have some slightly smaller rooms in exchange for a dedicated playroom. I also wasn't a fan of some of the finishes (should be a little higher-end for that price range, esp. in Houston -- remember, that's where my husband's family is from so I'm somewhat familiar with the market there). But most of all, I hate angled walls, and it looked like that house had a lot of oddly shaped rooms!

I'd love to know what you thought of this post! Leave your comments here. Thanks for visiting! :)
