We spent a wonderful Fourth of July weekend at a rented condo on Lake Conroe with some great friends (also known as our Texas Family). Both own boats, so we found ourselves on the water for the majority of the days.
Aidan had never been on a boat before, so I was a little
terrified nervous that he might jump off and get eaten by an alligator get upset by his new surroundings.
Fortunately, the kid is gung-ho for boats! Who knew?
He was not a fan of the life jacket at first, but there was no way in Hades that my little guy was going to be on a boat without one wrapped snugly around him.(Oh, and it's also against the law for him NOT to wear one! Good law!)
Since my friends and I are all preggo, we weren't able to partake in all of the watersports that our men did. They tried wakeboarding, waterskiing, and kneeboarding.
We had to stop fairly often to jump in the water and cool off. Being on a boat for 6+ hours at a time can be HOT! Luckily the kids loved playing in the water and didn't mind jumping in with us. Aidan loved leaping from the boat to the water and being able to float around in his life jacket!
I was able to participate in one "water sport" and that was riding on a raft. It was so much fun! They went slow for me (since I'm the most preggo of the bunch) and I had a wonderful time cruising along behind the boat with my friend, Jamie! (Our friend Jason was basically terrified the entire weekend that I was going to go into labor at any second. He was overly paranoid and asked me constantly if I was okay).
Aidan even decided to give in a whirl with Daddy as his accomplice. :)
When we weren't on the boat we were back at the condo hanging out. We napped, ate a lot, fished and fed ducks off the balcony. Our evenings were spend playing cards and board games while the men indulged in liquor. I drank water and Coke. Wooohoo!
We had a gorgeous view of a nearby lighthouse and it was so relaxing to spend a quiet morning out on the balcony. Well, as quiet as it can be with three crazy toddlers running around!
On the evening of the third, we took a sunset boat ride. Aidan really enjoyed being on the boat at night. We saw a beautiful sunset and stayed out late for a fireworks show, too!
Aidan had never seen fireworks before, and he liked watching them! We didn't get back until 11 pm and the kids were wound up! They blew off some steam before crashing hard.
On the Fourth we watched a boat parade! It was really neat to see all of the different boats decked out for our Nation's birthday!
After one last day out on the lake, we headed home. Our little guy had such a fun time with his friends, in the water and on the boat. We're hoping to head out next weekend to spend more time on the water!
I hope your Fourth of July was as memorable as ours!
