My Big Little Man is 3!

It's so incredibly hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that my baby is THREE YEARS OLD! He's been in "school" for a year and a half now and is a BIG brother! Time flies too quickly, I tell ya.

I decided to ask Aidan a few "interview" questions, so that we can keep track of what he's into as the years go by. Here are his answers:

1. Favorite Movie: Lightning McQueen (Cars) and Woody-Buzz (Toy Story) {Apparently he only refers to movies by their main characters' names. The Lion King is known as "Baby Simba" in our house.}
2. Favorite Color: Purple.
3. Favorite Song: Hot Potato- this boy LOVES The Wiggles.
4. Favorite TV Show: Barney and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
5. Favorite Toy: Puzzles- he is a MASTER at Puzzles!
6. Favorite "Lovey": His baby seahorse with a glow belly.
7. Favorite animal at the Zoo: Elephants and Zebras.
8. Favorite Pet: Flippy (our dog).
9. Favorite Sport: Baseball.
10. Favorite Book: Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle and Ten in the Den by John Butler
11. Best Friend: Connor {Not gonna lie, this made me tear up a bit when he said it. I hope that they truly are best friends for the rest of their lives.}

His actual birthday was this past Friday, and we kept things a bit more low-key than we have in past years. Instead of a party, we opted to have a fun day out instead!

He woke up to a Cars banner, balloons and presents at the table. He and Connor were VERY excited about the balloons!

Then Aidan helped me make chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. He is quite a little kitchen helper. :)

While eating breakfast, he opened up his gifts from Mommy, Daddy and Connor. Aidan was very excited about the two Melissa and Doug puzzles he received, as well as some cars from the movie "Cars" {Francesco Bernoulli, Lightning McQueen, Mater and The King}, a new Cars birthday shirt, a Cars bookset and a Cars blanket that I made for him. (Are you noticing a trend here?)

Afterwards we played with some of his new toys, then got ready to head to the Downtown Aquarium for the day.

Daddy had taken the day off of work so that we could all spend time together, which was wonderful!

Our best friends met us at the Aquarium, which was a great surprise for Aidan! We rode the Carousel, Shark Encounter Train and Ferris Wheel, then headed inside to check out all of the fish.

They even had white tigers, which the kids loved!

Afterward, we ate lunch at the Aquarium Restaurant. It was really neat. You are surrounded by HUGE floor to ceiling aquariums... definitely a cool experience!

The kids were getting a bit fidgety by this time and Aidan refused to eat his lunch. So, no dessert. I know.. I'm such a mean mommy! But, they were sweet enough to give him a dollop of whipped cream and some mini M&Ms instead- which he loved!

After some much needed naps at home, we dined on pizza for dinner (his choice), ate cupcakes for dessert and sang "Happy Birthday" to our big boy. :)

Aidan had a wonderful birthday. I'm so glad that we were able to spend it together as a family and with such good friends.

  1. Sounds like your lil cuties had a wonderful birthday! I love the photo you did where you put all the things he likes on it. My little ones 4th birthday is coming up and I think I need to steal this idea. ;)
    We are new to the Houston area and I've been wondering if the aquarium is worth the $$, but it looks like you guys had lots of fun!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. He definitely had a great birthday! The aquarium, I feel, is worth the money. If you buy the all day pass for $16, it includes the rides and admission to the exhibits. My littlest guy was free, so that's always nice! Welcome to Houston! What side of town are you on? :)

  2. Happy Birthday Aiden! I love the questions that you asked him. I'm going to have to remember that one! Looks like a fun birthday focused on him.
